Violas

4 TOWN FARM IN SEEKONK, MASSACHUSETTS (NEAR PROVIDENCE)

IN ANANDA & NATE'S BACK YARD

VOILA! VIOLAS! AND STRAWBERRIES!
YOU CAN TRAIN BIRDS TO STAY AWAY FROM YOUR STRAWBERRIES BY FINDING SOME SMALL STONES THAT ARE STRAWBERRY-LIKE IN SHAPE. PAINT THEM RED, AND SPRINKLE THEM AROUND YOUR STRAWBERRY PLANTS BEFORE THEY MAKE FRUIT. BIRDS WILL COME TO CHECK OUT THE FAKE BERRIES, WITH DISAPPOINTING RESULTS. WHEN THE REAL BERRIES COME, THE BIRDS WILL IGNORE THEM, HAVING LEARNED THAT YOU ARE GROWING ROCKS. OF COURSE, THERE ARE ALWAYS ANTS, AND SQUIRRELS, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE . . .

Nate's Studio and and Bit More of Ananda's

A NEW WORK IN PROGRESS, WITH A SUNSHINE HOTSPOT

THE FLOOR . . .

. . . AND A BIGGER VIEW OF ANANDA'S STUDIO.

Nathan's Senior Show at RISD

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE! :-)

NATE'S WORK LOOKED REALLY GREAT - THE BEST IN THE SHOW! THE LIGHTING WASN'T GOOD, SO THESE IMAGES ARE NOT THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF NATE'S GORGEOUS PAINTINGS, BUT YOU CAN GET AN IDEA.
MORE PICS FROM THE VISIT TO COME LATER.

I'M OFF TO PROVIDENCE NOW, TO SEE NATE'S SENIOR SHOW AT RISD.

MOMA

THIS LITTLE PARK IS A BEAUTIFUL AND UNEXPECTED OASIS IN THE CITY. THE FALLING WATER AND THE TREES ARE SO REFRESHING. S. POINTED IT OUT TO ME ON OUR WALK TO MOMA.

WE HAD LUNCH AND COFFEE IN THE MOMA CAFE.

SWEET!
YOU'VE GOT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE WORK OF OLAFUR ELIASSON! WHATEVER FALLS UNDER THIS YELLOW LIGHT BECOMES MONOCHROME - LIKE A BLACK & WHITE PHOTOGRAPH. HIS WORK IS SIMPLE IN METHOD, BUT SO BRILLIANT, AND VERY ENGAGING. IT PLAYS WITH PERCEPTION. BRING THE KIDS! THEY WILL LOVE IT TOO!

After the Rodeo

MY FATHER TOOK THIS PICTURE OF MY MOTHER AND SISTER IN A TRAIN STATION. MOM AND J. WERE ON THEIR WAY HOME FROM THE RODEO AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. DAD MUST HAVE MET THEM AT GRAND CENTRAL STATION AFTER WORK, AND THEY RODE HOME TOGETHER ON THE TRAIN. I'M GUESSING THIS WAS TAKEN IN 1953 OR SO.

I GREW UP WITH BOTH CATS & DOGS, BUT IN MY ADULT LIFE I'VE BECOME A CAT PERSON. BUT I DO ADMIRE DOGS, AND SOMEDAY I HOPE MY LIFE WILL BE SPACIOUS ENOUGH TO ALLOW A DOG INTO IT AGAIN.
HERE ARE SOME DOG PORTRAITS MADE OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.
FOR A VERY FUNNY TIME CLICK HERE. THEN CLICK ON "GAME" IN THE LEFT MENU BAR TO DISCOVER YOUR "INNER DOG." MY INNER DOG IS AN IBIZAN HOUND!

Arrangements

I MADE A FEW FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE SHAMBHALA CENTER THIS EVENING. WE ALWAYS HAVE FRESH FLOWERS FOR WEEKEND PROGRAMS. THIS WEEKEND IS A SHAMBHALA TRAINING LEVEL I: THE ART OF BEING HUMAN. I CAN'T SAY THAT THESE ARE THE BEST ARRANGEMENTS I EVER MADE - I KIND OF RUSHED THROUGH IT. BUT HERE ARE TWO OF THEM - AND THE FLOWERS CAN SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. SOME DAY I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A CLASS IN IKEBANA.

Color Play

BLUE & YELLOW
PINK & ORANGE

I PAINTED THESE SOME YEARS AGO, BUT I STILL HAVE FONDNESS FOR THEM. I'M FACINATED BY RANDOM PATTERNS, RANDOM RELATIONSHIPS - OR SHOULD I SAY SEEMINGLY RANDOM. I DID MAKE CHOICES AFTER ALL.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Collection

I WAS NEVER CATHOLIC . I WAS RAISED IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH. FOR MANY YEARS NOW I'VE BEEN BUDDHIST. AND YET, AFTER SPENDING SEVERAL SUMMERS IN NEW MEXICO, I HAVE SUCH AN AFFINITY FOR THE VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE. SHE IS EVERYWHERE IN THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENT. THIS COLLECTION OF MINIATURE ICONS HAS GROWN OVER THE YEARS. SOME I PURCHASED, SOME WERE GIFTS. THEY HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART.
I JUST POSTED THIS PHOTO ON THE ORGANIZED COLLECTIONS PAGE. CHECK IT OUT - IT'S A LOT OF FUN!

Did I Mention That I Love Asparagus?

To Asparagus – A Springtime Love Sonnet

Asparagus, the harbinger of Spring!
Your spears so fresh and green I do adore.
All year from warmer climes you come by wing,
But local bunches move me to the core.

I see you tall and fresh at farmer’s stand,
And slam the brakes - I hope I do not crash!
Three green backs go into the coffee can,
Then off I drive to home with this great stash.

Tonight I’ll simply steam the spears and then
Melt butter, poured upon them, oh so hot!
Tomorrow I will buy some more of them,
And make a soup to die for in my pot.

Asparagus! Your virtues I do tell.
And yet I do confess -- you make pee smell!

I WROTE THIS POEM FOR AN ENTRY IN THE PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION SPRINGTIME LOVE SONNET CONTEST! WISH ME LUCK! :o)
