S. AND I HAD A LOVELY THANKSGIVING FEAST WITH FRIENDS IN THE CITY. BEFORE HEADING HOME ON FRIDAY WE STOPPED IN CHELSEA TO SEE WHAT WAS SHOWING IN THE GALLERIES. I WAS EXCITED TO SEE THE DAVID HOCKNEY PAINTINGS AT PACE WILDENSTEIN ON 25TH ST. IF I HAD KNOWN THE SHOW CONTINUED AT THEIR UPTOWN GALLERY I WOULD'VE RUN RIGHT UP THERE TO SEE IT. Hey GK, great post. Loved seeing the Hockneys and especially through the lense of the goofy video. Why wasn't anyone looking at the paintings?
Hi Joe. I wondered the same thing - there was almost no one in the gallery, yet there was a lot of noise. Strange. That guy "James Kalm" (not his real name - that's his art critic alter-ego) has tons of videos like that of NYC gallery/museum shows and some studio visits. They're worth perusing. Some places allow him to film, and for the rest, he sneaks it! It can make me a little dizzy with the wobbly camera, but I do enjoy getting to see what's happening in the city art world.
